Childrens' dedicated Salon

We are so lucky at Feel Good Factor to have our own dedicated kids’ room. Away from the noise of hairdryers in the main salon, children can play, while having their hair cut. Our experienced stylists work with parents, and caregivers, to make having hair done a positive experience.

Generally more relaxing for everyone.

The kids’ room has animal wallpaper, a sit-in racing car chair, a cosy corner and loads of toys to distract and play with. Because of this unique offer (we don’t know of anywhere else locally that has similar), families often travel a fair way to come and benefit from the kids’ room. It continues to be much sought after, and appointments are in demand.

Unless additional styling is particularly requested, and booked, as standard, we cut children’s hair dry.

Given the popularity of the kids’ room, and an ever increasing demand for appointments, we kindly ask that wherever possible, appointments that need to be changed are done so with at least 48 hours’ notice. Larger bookings will require a deposit. We reserve the right to charge the appointment cost for no-shows, or late cancellations. There may be extra charges where a hair is particularly thick or it has not been regularly cut, it requires more detangling, or where a complete change of style is requested. Your stylist will discuss this with you.

Tips for Getting Best from Your Kids’ Cut Experience

Children, especially young children, or children with additional needs, can find it quite hard to sit still and it’s natural for them (and parents!) to feel anxious the first few times they come. Our stylists  work quickly to cut as much hair as possible, within a child’s tolerance. It’s not always possible to achieve a full hair cut the first time, but it’s always better that a child feels as relaxed as possible, and in control of their experience.

We would never recommend holding a child down against their will to get the hair done.

Things that help an appointment go smoothly is when:

Hair is freshly washed, conditioned and brushed prior to appointment

Hair is trimmed regularly (we generally recommend every 4-6 weeks for short hair and 8 weeks for longer hair). Hair left for longer than this, particularly thick hair, or hair that is having a complete change of style, takes longer to cut. This is harder for younger children, or those that find it tricky having their hair cut

Parents work with the stylists. We are very experienced at what we do. Generally, by keeping the hair cut a positive experience, over regular appointments, in a room which is fun to play in, children learn to enjoy having their hair done. This may mean starting by cutting little and often, and building up to a full hair cut.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.
